Vermont Speech-Language Pathologist
Alina Mills M.S. CCC/SLP, LSLS Cert. AVEd. is a Speech-Language Pathologist based in Vermont. Alina has been specializing with cochlear implants and hearing aids since graduate school in 1993 at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She has worked with several cochlear implant teams. She works collaboratively with the University of Vermont Medical Center since 2002. Prior teams include the Bridgend Cochlear Implant Team in Bridgend, Wales 2000-2002, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill cochlear implant program in 1994-1995 as a graduate trainee. Alina is certified as a Listening and Spoken Language Specialist in Auditory-Verbal Education through the Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf. Her primary role on educational teams is in supporting the development of listening and oral language skills. She is a member of the American Cochlear Implant Alliance and is a State Champion and advocate for cochlear implants in the state of Vermont.
Alina Mills works with patients of all ages including newly diagnosed babies and their families, preschool and school-age children, adolescents, young adults and older adults. She specializes in supporting patients learning to listen with their cochlear implants and hearing aids. Alina individualizes programming based on patient and family needs. She coaches families to be their child’s first teacher of listening and spoken language and supports adults in auditory skills training and communication strategies. Alina works with patients both in person and via tele-communication.
